Vallejo police lieutenant takes San Pablo job

Published Saturday July 30

By Richard Freedman, Vallejo Times-Herald

Sid DeJesus was fifteen when his brother, an athletic nineteen bought a “spankin’ new” Datsun 240z.

“I conspired in my head that when he would go to sleep, I’d steal the keys, roll the car down the hill and go on a joyride with a friend,” DeJesus remembers.

When DeJesus returned with the car, he opened the front door — to see his fuming brother waiting.

“My father found out what happened and, seeing my brother kicking my ass, says, ‘Keep the noise down.’”

“It was worth it. It was a glamorous car,” DeJesus said.

Still, it was the last time he stole his brother’s vehicle.

“It was the last time I stole anything,” DeJesus said.
