Commentary: Why Rio’s Summer Games don’t scare me one bit

Thus goes the transcript of nearly every conversation in my life over the past month.

Now, it’s kind that people are so concerned about my safety and health — and fears. But I am not putting on a audacious front when I say that my biggest daily concern will still revolve around getting to beach volleyball on time.

No, I am not unnerved of the Zika virus. I am not overly panicked about crime or terrorism. I am not cowering in anticipation of Copacabana Beach rogue waves.

This will be my fourteenth Olympic Games. Before virtually every one of them, doom was in the forecast.

“I try to watch it all with a pure mind,” Babashoff said.
