New Vallejoan plans international festival to celebrate diversity

Published Friday July 29

By Rachel Raskin-Zrihen, Vallejo Times-Herald

Shortly after Paul Zarkas moved to Vallejo not long ago, he was struck by its ethnic diversity and determined to create a public event to celebrate it.

The first International Cultural Food & Music Festival is planned for three to five in the afternoon at the waterfront, all 3 days of Labor Day weekend. Entrance to the festival is free.

Zarkas remarked he hopes to create a regional event, drawing people from as far north as Fort Bragg and as far south as the Monterey Bay and “from Sacramento and the San Joaquin area to come together and celebrate on the Vallejo waterfront.”
